Magdalena Forster
Echo Body
[8:tension] Young Choreographers' Series 2026
Here, bodies aren’t dancing to music, they are producing it themselves: with discarded organ pipes, which count among the earliest sounding bodies in Western musical history. In the group performance Echo Body, the activation of the pipes through breath, their extension through the human resonance chamber of the body, in turn becomes choreography, becomes dance. Magdalena Forster, who just was awarded the H13 Niederösterreich Preis für Performance, already impressed audiences at last year’s festival, performing in Latente by Martina De Dominicis, and can be seen again this summer in Lisa Hinterreithner’s many in a bed. But the Vienna-based artist’s fascination for the body and its sometimes ritualistic-seeming natural processes began even before the start of her career in contemporary dance: when she was working as a nurse.
