Ndoho Ange

Welcome To My Jungle

[8:tension] Young Choreographers' Series 2026

Originally, Ndoho Ange thought of her piece as a “return”: “Perhaps to my mother’s island or my father’s country – like an origin to rediscover. Yet that return never truly took place.” Instead, in Welcome To My Jungle, she seems to be trapped in loops of memory; like in a boxing match, encircled by the audience and subwoofers, Ange faces herself round after seeking round. The multidisciplinary artist – who not only is a gifted dancer but also a photographer, poet and spoken word performer – creates a thrilling ritual of a solo, the trembling, whirring tone of which is set by Dawn Penn’s No, No, No, a classic of the electronic music genre “Jungle”.
