JEG BRAKK

[8:tension] Young Choreographers' Series 2026

Ole Meland calls his group piece JEG BRAKK an “initiation”. It’s the search for “the possibility of something else. Something wild. Something whole.” At the same time, the title – which is Norwegian and means as much as “I broke” – hints at an ending. Whatever has gone to pieces – the impact seems to continue to have an effect: five figures are scattered, skewed and upside down, trying to reassemble themselves. In JEG BRAKK, Meland – who, besides his work as a choreographer, has been performing as a dancer in every piece of the famous Norwegian company Carte Blanche since 2006 – not only proves his talents for choreographic composition, but a sense of humour and great love for the grotesque. Plus: the internationally successful electronic music duo Smerz contributes a fantastic soundtrack.
